Gespräch mit Dr. Ellen Ueberschaer

Dr. Ellen Ueberschär (born in 1967 in East Berlin) began her theological studies at the Sprachenkonvikt in Berlin in 1988. Prior to this, she had already been actively engaged in advocating for democratic change through her involvement in Protestant youth organisations.
Following various roles, including that of General Secretary of the German Protestant Church Congress, she served on the board of the Heinrich Böll Foundation, a political foundation, from 2017 to 2022. Since 2022, she is Chair of the Executive Board of the Stephanus Foundation in Berlin-Weißensee, a major social welfare organization
Dr. Ellen Ueberschär (* 1967 in Ost-Berlin) begann 1988 das Studium der Theologie am Sprachenkonvikt Berlin. Schon zuvor hatte sie sich in der Evangelischen Jugendarbeit für demokratische Veränderungen in der DDR eingesetzt. Nach Stationen u.a. als Generalsekretärin des Deutschen Evangelischen Kirchentages gehörte sie von 2017 bis 2022 dem Vorstand der Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung an, einer politischen Stiftung. Seit 2022 ist sie Vorstandsvorsitzende der Stephanus-Stiftung in Berlin-Weißensee, eines großen diakonischen Trägers.

The project is funded by the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany as part of the “Jugend erinnert” initiative.
